While spending the last twelve months getting to know the ins and outs, incredible apps and integrations of Showit, we made an interesting discovery! Getting access to Shopify Lite so we could create our ‘buy buttons’ in our new Showit Templates wasn’t as straight forward as we thought it would be! So we decided to write ‘How To Use Shopify Lite On Your Showit Website’ and give you the EXACT steps given to us by a Shopify Help Tech!

What is Shopify Lite?

Shopify Lite is a plan for business owners who are looking to sell in-person (via POS lite) or add a buy button to their existing website products. But, obviously Shopify would prefer you sign up for the $29 US a month plan, not the $9 US a month plan! So we are going to talk you through how to get Shopify Lite here in Australia (psst… it’s hiding right under our noses!).

What does Shopify Lite include?

Shopify Lite includes access to the Shopify Admin Panel which you can use to manage your business. The Shopify Lite plan also includes the Buy Button and Shopify POS Lite sales channels.

You get the following features:

• Overview dashboard
• Finances reports
• Customer profiles
• Order management
• Product management
• Mobile POS and hardware accessories
• Email carts
• QR code product details
• In-store inventory
• Gift cards
• Split bill
• Custom discounts and discount codes

But the bit we want to teach you about today is the Buy Button. It allows you to generate and embeddable product code and checkout functionality on any part of your website. Just copy, paste, and start selling!!

Add embeddable products to your site

Shopify generates the embed code which allows you to present your products exactly how you want. You can quickly add a mobile friendly and secure shopping experience to your site, allowing your customers to check out then and there with Shop, Paypal or with a Credit Card.

 

STEPS FOR SELECTING THE LITE PLAN

You will need to initially sign up for the Shopify Basic Plan ($29 US a month) but don’t worry, the following steps will sort things out.

1. Under Settings > Plan, click the Change plan button at the bottom of the page:

2. You will then be brought to a page detailing available plans. There is an option at the bottom of the page to Remove your online store:

3. This will redirect you to Settings > Sales Channels, where you can click the trashcan icon to remove the Online Store:

4. After confirming your decision in the resulting dialogue box, merchants on a paid plan will have been downgraded to the Lite plan. Merchants still on trial will now see the Lite option under Settings > Plan:
   

Note: Merchants who remove the Online Store channel will not lose access to any previously purchased and/or customised themes, should they ever need them again the future.

Shopify also has a fantastic help centre and chat support. If for some reason the above steps don’t work, jump in a chat with them and they will be able to to help out or talk you through a work around.
