HOW TO IDENTIFY A GOOD SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER FROM A BAD ONE

It’s time to end some of the confusion between successful social media and social media that is a waste of time. A number of ‘interesting’ social media managers have been come onto my radar of late. I use the term ‘interesting’ because I’m talking about those social media managers that are offering up their services to the tune of $300/mth or less. People…

  • They are going to be a waste of your time and money; and
  • They are not going to be invested in the long-term success of your social media and business.

There are so many red flags you should be paying attention to when you’re looking to hire a social media manager. Some examples include:

  1. They are not active on their own account;
  2. They are providing subpar content and little to no positive results;
  3. They have too many clients and struggle to deliver their work on time;
  4. They charge less than $300/mth; and
  5. They use all the fancy words but can never explain to you what they actually mean!

I’m putting these things out in the open because unfortunately, the social media industry is highly unregulated, meaning many business owners find it difficult to tell the difference between a good social media manager and a bad one. Crazy, right!?

When people finally realise what’s going on, it’s often too late and there’s no going back. I know so many businesses that have been burned in the past due to their accounts being poorly managed and executed, and it’s honestly heartbreaking to watch.

It’s great to have a lot of passionate people in the same industry, but I’m seeing a lot of people who don’t have a great concept of what it means to provide quality work and also what it means to work with a quality company.

So, if you’re reading this post and realising that the person that currently manages your social media meets a number of the red flags above, it’s time to make some changes and look elsewhere. The lesson here – it pays to be vigilant and do your homework!

So, without further ado…
